Finding Adventure and Building Community at the Outdoor Education Center

Carolina’s Outdoor Education Center offers students and faculty opportunities to find recreation and adventure, community or solitude.
“It is the best opportunity on campus to find outdoor recreation and relaxation,” says David Rogers, Senior Assistant Director of the center.
Sitting on 67 acres on the edge of campus, the Outdoor Education Center offers a variety of recreation opportunities.
You could play on the 18-hole disc golf course, tennis courts or sand volleyball courts. Or tap into your adventurous side with a hike, bike or run through 4.5 miles of multi-use trails.
Anyone can use the spaces at the center or take advantage of their services – even those who have little to no experience.
“Everything we do is designed around beginners, or people looking to join others who are already doing those things,” says Rogers.
- Drop in for free play like volleyball, disc golf and trail exploration.
- Reserve outdoor spaces for your group.
- Schedule a high or low ropes course or teambuilding for your organization.
- Sign up for Carolina Adventures open events or trips using Campus Rec gear and with the support of trained instructors.
- Rent outdoor gear for your own adventuring.
The facility is open from dawn to dusk.
