QPR Training in Suicide Prevention

Just like CPR is for physical emergencies, QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is an emergency response that can save lives during a mental health crisis.

UNC-Chapel Hill is offering students, faculty and staff free opportunities to be QPR trained. You will receive a certificate upon completing the training.

In-person QPR Suicide Gatekeeper Training

Various entities will host in-person QPR trainings throughout the year. When those are open to the campus community, we will list them here. These trainings will cover the following topics:

  • How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal  
  • How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide  
  • The common causes of suicidal behavior  
  • The warning signs of suicide  
  • How to get help for someone in crisis  

Training dates (registration required):

Asynchronous, online QPR Suicide Gatekeeper Training

The asynchronous, online training takes about an hour to complete and does not need to be finished in one session.

The training will cover the following topics:  

  • How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal  
  • How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide  
  • The common causes of suicidal behavior  
  • The warning signs of suicide  
  • How to get help for someone in crisis

Once you register, QPR will send you an email with instructions on how to access the course. 

There is no expiration date for this registration code, but register soon before the allotment of paid-for registrations has been filled.
