QPR Training in Suicide Prevention

June 27, 2024

UNC-Chapel Hill is offering faculty and staff – including student employees - a free training opportunity in suicide prevention to support student mental health and well-being.

This asynchronous, online training will help you support someone who may be suicidal. It is offered to members of campus at no cost, as it’s been paid for by a UNC System grant.

The QPR Online Gatekeeper Training is a concise training to empower you to better recognize signs of suicidality and support people in crisis. The training will cover the following topics:

  • How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal
  • How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide
  • The common causes of suicidal behavior
  • The warning signs of suicide
  • How to get help for someone in crisis

Register for this course by entering this registration code: UNCCH2240959979. In the “Notes” section, write whether you are a student, faculty, or staff.

Once you register, QPR will send you an email with instructions on how to access the course.

There is no expiration date for this registration code, but we encourage you to register today. The UNC System paid for a number of registrations, but we encourage you to register today before the allotment of paid-for registrations has been filled.

The Gatekeeper training course takes one hour and does not need to be finished in one session. Should you require a pause, it’s possible to pick up the course right where you left off. You will receive a certificate upon completing the training.
