International Overdose Awareness Day

September 7, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

September 7, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is the world’s largest annual campaign to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and, ultimately, end overdose. We also use this day to remember those who have lost their lives to overdose and honor the grief of families and friends left behind.

The tragedy of overdose is far too frequent, and it is avoidable. Overdose prevention, education, and recognition play a crucial role in saving lives. Visit the UNC Student Wellness, Carolina Recovery, and Orange County Health Department tabling event at Polk Place (lower quad) on 9/7 from 11am-2pm for more information about substance use & recovery services, access to free naloxone (Narcan), and campus & community harm reduction efforts.

Please help keep your fellow Tar Heels and loved ones safe by carrying naloxone. FREE naloxone is also available anonymously at both the Campus Health Pharmacy (basement level) and Student Stores Pharmacies (third floor).
