Mindful UNC is bringing its community of practice back together for the 2026–27 academic year. Monthly Mindful Practice sessions will be held on the first Wednesday of each month, starting Wednesday, September 2, 8:30–9:00am. During these virtual sessions, a volunteer will lead a 15–20-minute practice followed by optional time for sharing and reflection. No registration is required, and the sessions are open to all UNC faculty and staff.

Christine Lathren will lead the first practice of the semester. Christine is a researcher in the School of Medicine and a Mindful Self-Compassion facilitator. As the academic year begins and energy can feel pulled in many directions, Christine will lead a self-compassion practice called Affectionate Breathing from the Mindful Self-Compassion program. This 15-minute practice invites a sense of slowing down, steadiness, and warmth, tuning into the rhythmic sensations of breath and connecting them to a sense of being cared for and supported.

Additional Mindful UNC programming is planned for this fall.
