Volunteer at the Coker Arboretum

November 13 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

November 13 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Coker Arboretum is a 120-year-old, 5-acre garden of flowers and trees on the UNC campus, a stone's throw from the Old Well and a short walk from Franklin St. The space is maintained by staff from the North Carolina Botanical Garden with the assistance of students and volunteers.

If you would like an opportunity to learn a bit about the plants in the Arboretum, their names, habits, and care and get a behind the scenes perspective on how a public garden space is maintained, please consider joining a volunteer session.

The sessions generally take place between 9 am and 12 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. You are welcome to join for as little as an hour or as many as three on those days. You are provided with gloves and all the tools you need to participate, and you are asked to dress for being outside and working in the dirt. Close-toed shoes are essential. Hats and water bottles are recommended.
