February 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
a Valentine’s Day–themed educational and discussion-based event designed to shed light on unhealthy and toxic relationship dynamics and to equip UNC students with tools to foster healthier, more respectful relationships. With Valentine’s Day approaching, we wanted to create a space that moves beyond romantic ideals and instead centers awareness, self-reflection, and well-being.
This event is a collaboration between the Theta Omicron Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the Omega Iota Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and UNC Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Our goal is to foster constructive, judgment-free dialogue around identifying, managing, and navigating toxic relationships—whether romantic, platonic, academic, or professional.
During the session, participants will:
- Explore common warning signs and patterns of unhealthy or toxic relationships
- Learn strategies for setting and maintaining healthy boundaries
- Discuss respectful and effective ways to address difficult interpersonal situations
- Gain insight into how positive communication and informed decision-making support personal well-being
A CAPS representative will serve as a co-presenter, offering professional insight into these topics, sharing practical tips and strategies students can apply in their own lives, and highlighting CAPS resources available to students. CAPS will bring any informational materials, resources, or wellness items to help students feel supported and encouraged to seek help when needed.
