Mental Health Seminar: Digital Minds

The first seminar in the Spring 2025 Mental Health Seminar series, "Digital Minds: Brain Development in the Age of Technology."
Nowadays, almost everything we do has a virtual element. From scrolling through social media to attending hybrid classes or meetings, even catching up with family and friends often happens through a screen. It's how we work, learn, and stay connected, but have you ever wondered how all this screen time might be shaping our brains, focus, and emotional well-being?

Dr. Eva Telzer, a Psychology and Neuroscience professor at Carolina, brings her expertise to this seminar on technology’s impact on mental health. She is the Director of the Developmental Social Neuroscience Lab and co-director of the Winston National Center on Technology Use, Brain, and Psychological Development. Additionally, Dr. Telzer serves as Associate Editor for Child Development and Social Cognitive Affective Neuroscience.
In this seminar, Dr. Telzer will share how technology affects us and provide practical strategies to help you navigate your digital life without feeling overwhelmed. Since technology is now an integral part of our lives, this is an opportunity to learn how to use it in beneficial ways.
This mental health seminar will take place on February 17th, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., via Zoom.
The Mental Health Seminar series is open to students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty, and staff. The series creates a space for learning, reflecting on, and discussing mental health. This year's seminars focus on research-to-practice, giving the audience both the science behind mental health and strategies they can employ right now. The overall goal is to empower all campus community members to help influence campus mental health and well-being. Join us!
