SUMMARY:Mindful Meditation by Bhakti Yoga Club
DESCRIPTION:Mindful meditation is a key practice of Bhakti Yoga. Original Yoga practices were made to help one control their thoughts and actions through raising awareness and self-regulation. Yoga from ancient India was originally meant for the mind before it was popularized as a physical activity. The UNC Bhakti Yoga club is working to help students experience these same fulfilling feelings through mindful meditation. \n\n\n\nThe Bhakti Yoga Club is committed to creating a stress-relieving and welcoming environment. Free vegan treats will be provided to session participants. All are welcome!The main session runs from 7-8 P.M. Participants are welcome to stay (from 8-8:30 P.M.) after the main session\, to enjoy some snacks and interact with other particiapnts.You do not need to RSVP to attend! We only use the RSVP headcount as an estimate so we know how much food to bring (+ so we can have extras for everyone).You do not need a yoga mat (this is not physical exercise). You are welcome to stay as long as you like during the sessions. You also do not need to have attended previous sessions to show up to an upcoming one. Feel free to come and see how you feel.

DESCRIPTION:Join our midday meditation and take a pause from the busy-ness of the morning. You will receive the opportunity to restore while setting a calm and rested tone for the remainder of your day. \n\n\n\nEach Instructor will bring her own unique guidance to the weekly sessions which will vary slightly and may include meditations ranging from mini body scans\, brief\, gentle movement in the chair\, breath awareness meditation\, loving kindness and simple stillness. \n\n\n\nCan’t stay for the entire session? DESCRIPTION:Suicide is a profoundly disturbing event and most people respond with confusion\, fear and anger when confronting it. This course will demystify suicide through discussion of why it occurs\, the risk factors associated with suicide and how to intervene with those who are suicidal or potentially suicidal. \n\n\n\nWorkshop Objectives: \n\n\n\nAt the end of this workshop\, you will be able to:• Identify the causes of suicide• Risk factors associated with suicide including the signs and symptoms of depression• Common myths associated with suicide• Describe how to intervene with someone who is expressing suicidal thoughts• Identify the importance of creating a “safety plan”• Describe resources available for suicide
