Sessions are 30-minutes every Monday led by Jonny Gerkin. \n\n\n\nAbout Jonny and Mindful Monday: Jonny Gerkin is board certified in both General Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. He founded and hosts Mindful Mondays\, and has developed and implemented multiple mindfulness based curricular projects that target stress management\, burnout and effective clinical practice. The sessions have been occurring since 2015 and are open to all UNC affiliated staff\, students\, researchers\, clinical trainees and faculty. This four-week program is designed to support students who are 'sober curious\,' those who want to take an intentional break from alcohol to reset priorities or improve their overall health.  \n\n\n\nEach week\, we'll delve into different themes and activities focused on personal growth\, health\, and mindfulness. Our sessions include: \n\n\n\nWeek 1: Setting Intentions – Begin with goal-setting workshops to create a solid foundation for the month. \n\n\n\nWeek 2: Mindfulness and Well-being – Participate in mindfulness exercises and discuss the benefits of abstaining from alcohol. \n\n\n\nWeek 3: Community and Connection – Engage in group activities to build connections and share experiences. \n\n\n\nWeek 4: Reflection and Beyond – Reflect on the journey\, celebrate achievements\, and discuss ongoing strategies for a balanced lifestyle. \n\n\n\nWe provide a safe and confidential space for sharing and learning from one another\, as well as access to online resources\, substance use practitioners\, and personal counseling. SUMMARY:Mindful Monday Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Free 30-minute mid-day meditation \n\n\n\nMondays\, 12:15 pm - 12:45 pm \n\n\n\nTake advantage of self-compassion meditation sessions provided by School of Medicine and dedicate time to self-nurture. Mindfulness and self-compassion meditations assist with stress reduction\, mental flexibility and even resilience. Sessions are 30-minutes every Monday led by Jonny Gerkin. \n\n\n\nAbout Jonny and Mindful Monday: Jonny Gerkin is board certified in both General Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. He founded and hosts Mindful Mondays\, and has developed and implemented multiple mindfulness based curricular projects that target stress management\, burnout and effective clinical practice. The sessions have been occurring since 2015 and are open to all UNC affiliated staff\, students\, researchers\, clinical trainees and faculty. DESCRIPTION:Four weeks\, Wednesdays\, January 17 - February 7 \n\n\n\nIn-person  |  Private  |  Confidential  |  Staff-facilitated \n\n\n\nStudent Union – Room 3409 \n\n\n\nEmbark on a journey of self-discovery and well-being with our Dry January Support Group at Carolina. This four-week program is designed to support students who are 'sober curious\,' those who want to take an intentional break from alcohol to reset priorities or improve their overall health.  \n\n\n\nEach week\, we'll delve into different themes and activities focused on personal growth\, health\, and mindfulness. Our sessions include: \n\n\n\nWeek 1: Setting Intentions – Begin with goal-setting workshops to create a solid foundation for the month. \n\n\n\nWeek 2: Mindfulness and Well-being – Participate in mindfulness exercises and discuss the benefits of abstaining from alcohol. \n\n\n\nWeek 3: Community and Connection – Engage in group activities to build connections and share experiences. \n\n\n\nWeek 4: Reflection and Beyond – Reflect on the journey\, celebrate achievements\, and discuss ongoing strategies for a balanced lifestyle. \n\n\n\nWe provide a safe and confidential space for sharing and learning from one another\, as well as access to online resources\, substance use practitioners\, and personal counseling. Our meetings are staff-facilitated and offer space for exploring motives\, sharing experiences\, gaining insights\, and practicing strategies for reducing alcohol use. \n\n\n\nDetails: \n\n\n\nDates: Wednesdays\, January 17 - February 7 \n\n\n\nTime: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm \n\n\n\nLocation: Student Union – Room 3409 \n\n\n\nNo pre-registration is required\, so come as you are\, whether you're seeking to reset your relationship with alcohol\, are interested in the benefits of alcohol breaks\, or are looking for a supportive community.
