DESCRIPTION:Free 30-minute mid-day meditation \n\n\n\nMondays\, 12:15 pm - 12:45 pm \n\n\n\nTake advantage of self-compassion meditation sessions provided by School of Medicine and dedicate time to self-nurture. Mindfulness and self-compassion meditations assist with stress reduction\, mental flexibility and even resilience. Sessions are 30-minutes every Monday led by Jonny Gerkin. \n\n\n\nAbout Jonny and Mindful Monday: Jonny Gerkin is board certified in both General Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. He founded and hosts Mindful Mondays\, and has developed and implemented multiple mindfulness based curricular projects that target stress management\, burnout and effective clinical practice. The sessions have been occurring since 2015 and are open to all UNC affiliated staff\, students\, researchers\, clinical trainees and faculty. In this immersive retreat\, students gain foundational stress-management skills\, develop a personal daily breathing and meditation practice\, connect with like-minded students\, develop strategies for leadership and social connection\, as well as learn practical ways to manage the mind. \n\n\n\nThe retreat will be held online live via zoom March 15-17. \n\n\n\nFriday\, March 15\, 6pm-9pmSaturday and Sunday March 16 & 17\, 10am-1pm \n\n\n\nIn order to participate in the SKY Happiness Retreat\, there is a commitment to attend the entire length of the program for the entire duration all 3 days. If you are unable to commit to the full time each day\, please let us know and we can get you on a waitlist for another SKY Happiness Retreat in the future.  \n\n\n\n*This program is a fully funded retreat experience with support from the UNC-CH Peer Support Core and in partnership with the SKY @ Charlotte Student Organization as well as the Center for Wellness Promotion at UNC Charlotte. Enjoy activities like: \n\n\n\n\nFree pizza and salad lunch in the TIAA Fun & Food Zone.\n\n\n\nChair massage — slots fill up fast so sign up soon!\n\n\n\nWellness resource fair with medicine drop and opportunity to practice Hands-Only CPR.\n\n\n\nFitness and mindfulness classes from Pilates\, strength training\, guided meditation and more.\n\n\n\nCooking demos — with free samples.\n\n\n\nSo much more!\n\n\n\n\nIn addition to the in-person event on Wednesday\, virtual wellness sessions will be available the entire week\, starting March 11. Virtual events will include workouts\, financial advice\, meditation and more. \n\n\n\nVisit the Total WellBeing Expo website to see all the happenings and to register for certain activities like chair massages\, fitness and meditation sessions\, cooking demos and virtual events. \n\n\n\nExpo participation is free\, and attendance is considered work time for staff. Free parking is available in the Cobb Deck on Paul Green Drive. \n\n\n\nTo support the day’s focus on employee total well-being\, Wednesday\, March 13\, is encouraged to be a no-meeting day. DESCRIPTION:Free 30-minute mid-day meditation \n\n\n\nMondays\, 12:15 pm - 12:45 pm \n\n\n\nTake advantage of self-compassion meditation sessions provided by School of Medicine and dedicate time to self-nurture. Mindfulness and self-compassion meditations assist with stress reduction\, mental flexibility and even resilience. Sessions are 30-minutes every Monday led by Jonny Gerkin. \n\n\n\nAbout Jonny and Mindful Monday: Jonny Gerkin is board certified in both General Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. He founded and hosts Mindful Mondays\, and has developed and implemented multiple mindfulness based curricular projects that target stress management\, burnout and effective clinical practice. The sessions have been occurring since 2015 and are open to all UNC affiliated staff\, students\, researchers\, clinical trainees and faculty.
