Mental Health Seminar: Calm Amidst the Campaigns

September 10, 2024

The first seminar in the Fall 2024 Mental Health Seminar series, "Calm Amidst the Campaigns: Mental Health Strategies for Election Season."

With the election season in full swing, it can feel like the conversation is everywhere– whether through family and friends, the news, or social media. Times like these often cause heightened emotions and uncertainty. In this seminar, Megan Pruette, M.D., helped attendees navigate this stress and offered strategies to maintain their mental health while staying informed.

Dr. Megan Pruette is an adult psychiatrist and the Course Director for the Psychiatry Course in the School of Medicine. A passionate advocate for patient care and education, Dr. Pruette has years of experience helping individuals navigate challenging times, including maintaining their well-being during elections.

The Mental Health Seminar series is open to students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty, and staff. The series creates a space for learning, reflecting on, and discussing mental health. This year's seminars focus on research-to-practice, giving the audience both the science behind mental health and strategies they can employ right now. The overall goal is to empower all campus community members to help influence campus mental health and well-being. Join us!

This mental health seminar took place on September 23rd, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., via Zoom.
